Our emotions are something that fluctuate from negative to positive and back to negative in a matter of seconds. Some of us are more prone to longer periods of negative emotions than others due to a number of reasons. This could be due to the genes we inherited, trauma we experienced in early childhood or such experience as a loss of a loved one or a heart break.
Even though all of us go through negative times it is very important to come out of them as soon as possible. The reason is that the longer we stay with a negative emotion the more our bodies adapt to it. Our brains rewire themselves based on the thoughts and emotions we entertain.Overtime our natural state becomes one that is negative and we vibrationally attract more negative circumstances and people into our lives.
It is very important to have a few self care practices in place to go to when we are feeling stressed. Having a friend or a family member to talk to can be tremendous in these times. It allows us to express our pain openly to someone we trust. Then finding some reading material that reminds us that things will get better will really help gain that lost faith back. Next thing we can do is to start treating ourselves to healthy food that soothes us such as soups, stews, instead of fries and coke although the later may be more appealing. Eating food that is good for our unique Ayurvedic body type can really help us bring some calmness and balance in to our bodies and the mind. (see my post on Ayurvedic body type for more information on this)
Touch is one of our primal needs and therefore a massage or a spa session can also be a very healing experience. Getting plenty of sleep is essential as sleep has much more power than we realize when it comes to healing us. Last but not least spending our extra time on a hobby that we love can be both productive and healing.
Some of us are naturally inclined to think negatively due to chemical imbalances or some deep seated childhood trauma. If this is the case seeking some medical advice can be a good start. Then we can slowly start to retrain our thoughts to be more positive. Using positive affirmations, positive quotes and even using positive matras (Sounds that create positive vibrations) can be beneficial.
The most important thing is to never blame ourselves for what has happened. We acted with the knowledge that we had at the time and we did not know any better. So it is important to let go of any guilt, worry and anxiety. Just remember that there is absolutely nothing that time cannot heal. In the mean time we can focus all our attention on self care and completing our responsibillities to the best that we can. All emotions and situations are temporary when we look at them from a higher perspective. So lets be happy and love each and every moment.
